Comedy Review

Michael Piper
Gilded Balloon Teviot
Michael Piper's show is called 'Best Newcomer' and how he ever thought that for a scintilla of a moment is beyond me or the audience. Dreary gags about Michael Jackson which would be more at home in the Museum of Scotland spout forth in this poor excuse for a comedy show. I think I may have spotted the joke in his act but I'm afraid I can't recall what it was due to my incredulous open-mouthed gawking at the car crash in front of me. There is no substance or structure to any of his material and he comes across as very dislikable, otherwise I might suggest that the material needs editing or the stage direction needs to be tighter or that some judicious cutting needs to be done, but in this case the cutting I might suggest would leave nothing but his name.
'My show works better with an audience; I honestly am funny' desperately boasts his flyer. Normally I would relish writing a review for such an abysmal mess but Piper didn't just disappoint he made me angry, it's an insult to the audience to expect them to pay for this offensively bad show and many of the initially small audience voted with their feet. I stayed to the conclusion of this tragic avoidable accident and rewarded Piper with suitable applause. None.
Rubbish
